Another major milestone of the World Trade Centre Residence (WTCR), a state-of-the-art luxury residence in downtown Dubai, has been achieved with the completion of the project’s seventh floor.

When completed, the 40-storey WTCR will house 377 exclusive apartments. The project, which began superstructure work in November 2005, is scheduled for completion in December 2007.

“Situated within walking distance of Jumeirah Emirates Towers, the DIFX and DIFC, the Residences’ location is ideal for visiting businessmen and residents working in the area,” said Thomas Wiegand, Head of Project, Asteco Property Management (real estate consultants for the project responsible for the sale of all apartments).

“We are working with high-profile construction leaders to establish a distinctive identity for the project. Our efforts are concentrated on creating a first-class and comfortable hospitality environment that will further reinforce Dubai’s growing stature as the region’s leading travel and tourism destination.” Project Management has been entrusted to Turner Construction International (USA) and Architectural and Interior Designs are being completed by Jung and Brannen, one of the foremost architects in the United States.

"The World Trade Centre Residence is synonymous with understated refinement," says Duncan Pendlebury President of JunglBrannen. "The property is a class apart from other city-centre upscale apartment buildings. The level of specification is incredible - the WTCR offers 40 different apartment types, something few exclusive apartment buildings around the world can match."

The demolition of the old World Trade Centre Hotel was completed in April 2005, and the foundation work was completed by October 2005. The foundation raft was built on 211 tower piles and 199 podium piles. The buildings are primarily concrete structures with more than 100,000 cubic metres of cement concrete with the structural steel component at 630 metric tonnes.

Turner Construction International’s Project Manager Giridhar Thandu added: “Other technical and engineering work involving electrical, plumbing, lighting and fire protection are well underway. Work on the next phase of construction is in progress with four to five floors being completed each month.” Jumeirah will bring their unique service style to all WTCR apartments with a complete range of hospitality services including security, maintenance, switch board, guest relations, concierge, valets, doormen, bell boys, gym instructors, and life guards. Jumeirah will also offer an extensive menu of additional services to residents - from laundry and secretarial work to drivers and on-call doctors.

Wiegand added: “It is the combination of five-star Jumeirah service with exceptional living spaces that makes the World Trade Centre Residences such a valuable proposition. With the building due to be completed by end of 2007, many of the apartments have already been snapped up.”
