Grammy Winner Rick Derringer Also in the Real Estate Business PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 16 June 2006

The musician and singer is a sales agent for Sarasota's McKenna and Associates Realty. Rick Derringer was just 17 when his band The McCoys recorded the No. 1 hit "Hang On Sloopy" in the summer of 1965. Weeks later, the boys from Liverpool nudged out Derringer with the classic "Yesterday."

He is also the latest pitchman for Fidelity Investments in a television commercial targeting boomer retirees. Derringer and his "third and last wife," Jenda, are born-again Christians who clearly would rather not dwell on past rock 'n' roll excesses and successes.

However, success in real estate sales means, "letting people know what you do," Derringer says. Derringer, who received his Realtor's license last summer, says his timing could not have been worse.

Derringer attends numerous guitar shows on Warrior's behalf. Derringer also sells his music through his Web site www.rickderringer.com. Derringer, despite his wife's misgivings, still loves to play live and does so about 30 times annually.
