Real Estate Developer to Dig a Lake in Bismarck? PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 07 June 2006

Kevin Turnbow, a developer is planning a new $9.5 million residential complex. However, to do this, they need to dig the lake to accommodate the residential complex.

Turnbow is planning a 200-acre housing development in south Bismarck. He said it would feature a lake stocked with fish, with 173 lots on the shoreline and 85 lots off of the water. Turnbow, who created Southport, an upscale development with access to the Missouri River, got the idea when he saw Southport residents keep boats in the marina.

He said that people love the water but they don't want their kids in the river. He also said that the new development would be called South Bay. The lake will be about 10 feet deep, except in five areas where underground springs feed it. Turnbow said 1.5 million yards of dirt will have to be removed, and he hopes construction of the homes can start in the fall.
