Developer Jorge Perez can now confidently declare that they are number one. The Related Group, is the No. 1 multifamily home builder in the country, according to Builder magazine. Long a dominant player in South Florida, the private high-rise condominium developer reported revenue of $3.25 billion in 2005 -- a 53 percent increase over the previous year.

Related Group, founded in 1979 by Perez, was also named the top Hispanic-owned business in the United States by Hispanic Business magazine. It was the second year in a row that the company captured the accolade. The ranking is based on revenue.

The high marks come as The Related Group goes through a few changes. The company shortened its name from The Related Group of Florida. And it recently relocated its offices from Miami's Coral Way area to downtown.

Where is Perez's new office? Next to a condo tower, of course. Last week the company moved into a newly built four-story office building next to Related Group's two-tower One Miami condo project at the mouth of the Miami River.
