The Peebles Corp. went up eight steps in 2006's Black Enterprise ranking of the country's largest black-owned firms.

Headed by R. Donahue Peebles, the Coral Gables development firm finished 10th in the Industrial Service category, an advance from last year's 18th place finish.

The Peebles Corp, which has three projects underway in the San Francisco area, recently finished Miami Beach's Bath Club condominium and still owns a stake in South Beach's Royal Palm hotel. The company has reported sales of $450 million in 2005.
